Costa Maya in Mexico: a nice snorkel in crystal blue water.
In Costa Maya we did a catamaran cruise & snorkel excursion; it was one of several snorkel options available for booking directly from the cruise ship we were on. The boat ride from the port to the diving spot was a bit long: almost one hour. The water at the spot we stopped was a spectacular blue color–a blue that felt unique compared to what we’ve seen at other spots in the Caribbean.
There was lots of sea life because the guides were feeding the fish (which probably isn’t the best for the fish?), and some of the fish were quite large. We also saw some extremely large lobsters and stingrays on the sea floor. The water was also a bit on the deeper side. See our short photo / video compilation of the snorkeling below:
After the snorkel was over, we were taken to an island / beach with a large outdoor buffet-style eatery that was included with our excursion. The food was good, and the eatery was quite clean. After eating with had enough time to enjoy the beach for a half-hour.
In summary, it was a fun afternoon, and there was some good snorkeling.
This looks SO amazing!! I recently went to Costa Maya as well and went snorkeling- but it was not as beautiful as this! Next time I will have to try the Catamaran snorkel. Check out my recap at https://courtneylivin.wordpress.com/2016/12/31/caribbean-princess-cruise/ 🙂
