Intercontinental Tahiti Resort & Spa: a great resort for travelers looking for a luxurious, indulgent stay in paradise.
The Intercontinental Tahiti Resort & Spa is a modern, fresh option that is more luxurious than some of the other hotels we visited in French Polynesia. It still has a Polynesian feel (from the traditionally-dressed bellhops to the lobby bar with a thatched grass roof) but the guest rooms, restaurants and other amenities are definitely upscale.
We stayed in a Superior room with a Queen bed and balcony overlooking the hotel’s vanilla bean garden. The decor was modern and fun, and came with the amenities you expect from an Intercontinental resort (and from the price tag!), like spa-quality toiletries and a “pillow menu” that lets you choose from firm, soft, hypoallergenic and other types of bed pillows. We loved the subtle design elements in the room, like mother-of-pearl handles on the dresser. We also appreciated the complimentary bottles of water, which can be hard to come by in French Polynesian hotels. You can see our walk-through of the room in this video:
We had a blast in the Te Tiare infinity pool, with a fun waterfall and a breathtaking view of Moorea island. We also snorkeled in the Lagoonarium, which is connected to the open ocean so there are always new fish to see. Here’s our video tour of the Intercontinental Tahiti Resort:
As is the case across French Polynesia, the restaurants were quite expensive. We weren’t able to get a reservation at Le Lotus, the resort’s overwater gourmet restaurant, so if you’d like to eat there be sure to book early! Thankfully we had some great meals at Te Tiare, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming.
Overall, we would absolutely recommend the Intercontinental Tahiti Resort & Spa for travelers who are looking for a luxurious, indulgent stay in paradise.
The sunset is just amazing on the last picture 🙂
