Bora Bora Shark and Ray Snorkel Safari review

Beyond incredible coral and fish, snorkeling in Bora Bora brings you up close and personal with reef sharks and sting rays. We booked an excursion with Shark and Ray Snorkel Safari, a 2.5 hour tour that included one stop in deep water with black tip reef sharks and lemon sharks, and a second stop with friendly sting rays and some more black tips.

Highlights:

  • There’s nothing like seeing dorsal fins skimming the top of the water, and knowing you’re about to get in!
  • It was especially cool seeing sharks in both deep and shallow water. It was a very different experience in each environment.

Tips:

  • In addition to our tour guide, there was a professional photographer who sold a DVD of footage from the excursion (which he edited and delivered to our hotel room several hours after the tour wrapped up). We don’t typically buy these, but the chance to watch ourselves swimming in the deep blue surrounded by sharks was too cool to pass up!
