Getting to paradise

It took us the better part of a whole day to get to Bora Bora. You can see clips from our journey in the above video. Needless to say, it was most definitely worth the travel day to get there!

Tahitian paradise

There is a lot to do at the Intercontinental Tahiti resort itself. There are a few restaurants, amazing views of Moorea, snorkeling in a lagoon open to the ocean, huge swimming pool, and more. We had a newly renovated Superior Garden View Room and it was pretty nice. Aside from the nice view, my favorite part of the room was the pillow menu. That was a new one for me and I definitely made use of it.

Dinner and a show in French Polynesia

The restaurant at the Sofitel Moorea Ia Ora has a Tahitian / Polynesian dance show every night. You can check out our video above. They change the shows every day, and once a week, they have a special traditional fire dance performance that is absolutely fantastic. I didn’t have my camera that night, but if you can, be sure to catch that show on Thursday nights.

A walking tour of Labadee in Haiti

Labadee is a part of Haiti that is owned by Royal Caribbean. The area around Labadee is very green and lush. You can take a look at my walk around video above: I go from the cruise ship to the main beach on the left side, and then loop back to the cruise ship via the the second beach on the right side. (If you go there, you’ll understand what I mean by the left and right.) The beach area itself is quite nice; it’s definitely been engineered to accommodate a lot of cruise passengers. The beach on the right seemed to have better water if you want to go for a dip. You can read the detailed account here.

The Boston aquarium even had a live shark egg with a shark embryo inside

One of the hidden gems at the New England Aquarium is the shark nursery. They had a handful of shark eggs on display with real live tiny little shark embryos inside. This particular one that I recorded on video below is an epaulette shark embryo that is 3 months old. It was set to hatch 1 month later. Thanks to the special lighting you can really see it move around and feed inside the egg. Most people walked by this display since there is so much more going around elsewhere in the aquarium.

Petting sharks and sting rays at the aquarium in Boston

The New England Aquarium has a shark and sting ray touch tank!!! I really enjoyed being able to pet these animals. There was such a huge variety of animals in that tank and there wasn’t anything to be afraid of. There was an especially large leopard whiptail stingray that kept coming back. Such a beautiful creature. You can tell from the video that I couldn’t get enough!
